Curacao extends tax filing deadline

The Curacao government has issued a Tax Office notice stating that the 2020 tax filing deadline is being extended for some taxpayers. The renewal is provided due to the unavailability of the portal of tax returns for taxpayers who can distribute part of their profits abroad and who are engaged in at least one of the following activities:

• Financial business.
• Insurance business.
• Shipping and / or aviation business.

Activities in accordance with paragraph 4 of article 15 of the National Income Tax Ordinance 1940, i.e. Taxpayers subject to a reduced 3% corporate income tax rate.
For the aforementioned taxpayers, the deadline for filing the 2020 income tax return has been extended to December 31, 2021. For other taxpayers, the provisional renewal until September 30, 2021 still applies, although requests for additional renewals may be submitted to the Tax Office.
