Greece grants additional tax relief in connection with COVID-19

Greece has provided additional tax breaks in response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the payment deadline will be extended until April 30, 2021, for certified tax arrears of individuals and legal entities. With regard to individuals and legal entities, a suspension of the collection was granted in accordance with measures to eliminate the negative consequences of the pandemic, without interest and fines. The extended period also applies to payments under concluded installment agreements.

Additional benefits are also granted to property owners (individuals and legal entities) who rent property to affected businesses with a 40% reduction in rent, including a 20% discount on the rent received (60% of the regular rent). This rebate can be used to reduce tax payments due after July 31, 2020, including income tax, business tax, VAT, property tax (ENFIA), and some others. This applies to income received from January 1, 2020.
